Leaking

This is a pretty obvious one, but something that many people ignore for too long. If you notice your faucet dripping or a puddle forming under the handles when the tap is turned off, you have a leak. Even if it is a minor leak, it will waste a significant amount of water and is likely to become a bigger problem later, so it’s best to nip it in the bud as soon as you notice it.

Unusual Water Pressure

Unusual water pressure can be the result of a number of things, a problem with your faucet being one of them. If your water is abnormally high or low from a specific faucet, have a plumber inspect it to detect the source of the problem and let you know whether your faucet (or something else) requires repairs.

Signs of Rust or Corrosion

If you notice rust or discolouration on your faucet anywhere, it’s probably time for a new one. When a faucet begins to rust or corrode, it is a sign that your faucet has lost its protective coating with age. However, note that if the only discolouration you’re seeing is a flakey white buildup, that is only mineral deposits which can likely be dealt with by giving your faucet a thorough cleaning.

Spitting Water

If your water is spitting, bubbling, or coming out of the faucet at odd angles, you have a problem. This often indicates a worn-out diverter valve, a faulty aerator, or internal damage. Have a plumber inspect the faucet and let you know whether it’s better to repair or replace your faucet.
