Do you have low water pressure in your home? One of these common causes may be the reason why.
Clogged Pipes
If you have a clog anywhere in your pipes, it could be blocking things up, restricting water flow, and resulting in low water pressure at faucets and/or showerheads. If you suspect you may have a clog in your pipes, call in a plumber to professionally clean your pipes and get rid of any nasty clogs that may be causing the problem.
Corroded Pipes
Corroding pipes can cause a lowering in water pressure. This is especially likely if you have an older home and the pipes have not been replaced anytime recently. Check exposed pipes in your home for signs of corrosion such as rust, discolouration, and cracks and have a plumber do a thorough inspection to determine whether you have corroded pipes that require repairing or replacing.
Water Main isn’t Open All the Way
Sometimes the cause of low water pressure is simply that the valve for your main water supply isn’t all the way open. Check that the valve is completely open, and if it isn’t, open it all the way and see if this fixes your water pressure problem.
Limescale
Limescale, the buildup that forms on plumbing fixtures as a result of mineral deposits in water, can clog up fixtures like showerheads and faucets, restricting the flow of water. Use vinegar to remove limescale and clean your fixtures thoroughly. This may be all you need to restore your water pressure.
High Water Demand
Sometimes, low water pressure is simply because too much water is being used at once in your home. If the water pressure is only low when water is being used in multiple places, for example when someone is showering and the washing machine is on at the same time, try coordinating your water usage so less is being used simultaneously and see if that helps.
